“Music can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowable.”
Leonard Bernstein

It is part of being human to express ideas, worries and emotions. For me, the fact that music works as a universal language is one of its most characteristic features. Where language reaches its limits and becomes incomprehensible – where words remain unspoken - music takes over.

Being one of the most successful organists of his generation, Johannes won both, the prestigious First Prize at the St. Albans International Organ Competition in 2015 as well as the famous "Grand Prix de Chartres". The Vienna based organist is a welcome guest at major music festivals and international concert series. Since 2021 Johannes is teaching at the University of music and performing arts Vienna and serves as organist at the famous Stift Klosterneuburg where he is performing regularly at the historical Festorgel by Johann Freundt (1642).

The Bruckner-Orgel
at Stift Sankt Florian

July 30th 2023, 2:30 pm

The Bruckner organ at the abbey church of Sankt Florian near Linz (Austria) is not only well known because of Anton Bruckner who was the organist there. Even his successors have been important figures with a big impact on church music in Austria. Due to its unique sound the Bruckner organ is nowadays an important instrument for recordings and a must-see for all organists.

Works by Franck, Reger, Heiller and Kropfreiter

Recital at the Festorgel

March 19th 2023, 3:00 pm
Stift Klosterneuburg

One of my favorite parts of being organist at the Stift Klosterneuburg is that I get to play the wonderful Festorgel by Johann Freundt (1642) regularly for services and concerts. It is one of the most outstanding instruments in Austria and one of my favorite instruments of all time.

This year I am going to perform works by german baroque composers with violinist Agnes Stradner.
